Typographic Solution, to three brand new book covers
The Brief:
The brief that i received said that, for the upcoming World Shakespeare Festival, I must design three new book cover for William Shakespeare's books: The Tempest, Hamlet and the famous Romeo & Juliet. The book covers of course must capture the essence of the play to give the people the idea of the theme of the play. The required contents of the front cover was simply, to have the title of the play, author, blurb and barcode. The twist however was that the outcome must be purely typographical, while including all of the above.
Concept:
You will notice that on all of the book covers I have a overlaying effect, that doesn't quite fit, this is to unite the book covers but also to say something about each play. For Romeo & Juliet it is to show that the two can't quite be together. For The Tempest its to show the rocking of the ship in a storm. And for Hamlet its to show the madness. I also added a little something to each of the barcodes to make them relevant to the design.
